Gmail changes in 2026

A Gmailify alternative: Gmail stops checking your other accounts

Many people read their other mailboxes inside Gmail: Gmailify linked them, or "Check mail from other accounts" fetched them by POP. In 2026 Google takes both away. Here is what changes and how to keep one inbox for all of them.

Short answer: connect Gmail and each of your other mailboxes to Stjobno Mail with an app password. You read and answer all of them in one list, the mail stays on its own servers, and it costs nothing.

What Google is changing

  • New Gmailify links and new "Check mail from other accounts" (POP) setups are no longer offered.
  • Existing connections stop collecting new mail in the course of 2026.
  • The mail Gmail already collected stays in your Gmail.
  • Gmail itself keeps working over IMAP, so a mail client can still read it.
  • Google suggests forwarding instead — but forwarded mail is answered from Gmail, and spam filters sometimes stop it.

What you get in Stjobno Mail instead

  • Gmail and your other mailboxes in one list, each marked with its colour.
  • A reply starts from the mailbox the message came to and goes out through its own server.
  • A letter that reached several of your mailboxes shows once.
  • Smart Inbox, snooze, scheduled send, templates and the app — free.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Sign in to Stjobno Mail

With Google it is one press, and the account is free.

  2. 2

    Add Gmail itself

Create an app password in your Google Account (the steps are below) and add your Gmail address with it.

  3. 3

Add each mailbox Gmail used to collect

Yandex, Mail.ru, iCloud, your own domain — each with its own app password. The servers are filled in for you.

  4. 4

Turn off the old collecting in Gmail, if you like

Gmail: Settings → Accounts and Import → "Check mail from other accounts" → delete. Not required — a letter found in two of your mailboxes shows once anyway — but it keeps Gmail tidy.

The passwords and servers, provider by provider

Gmail: an app password

  1. Turn on 2-Step Verification in your Google Account: myaccount.google.com → Security.
  2. Open myaccount.google.com/apppasswords, type a name such as "Stjobno Mail" and press Create.
  3. Copy the 16-letter password Google shows — it is shown once — and use it in Stjobno Mail instead of your Google password.

IMAP is always on in Gmail, there is nothing to switch on. A work or school Google account connects only if its administrator allows app passwords.

Incoming (IMAP)
imap.gmail.com:993 · SSL
Outgoing (SMTP)
smtp.gmail.com:465 · SSL
Stjobno Mail fills these in by itself when you type the address.

Yandex Mail: an app password

  1. In Yandex Mail open Settings → Email clients and allow access from the imap.yandex.ru server via IMAP, with app passwords.
  2. Open id.yandex.ru → Security → App passwords, choose "Mail", give it a name and create it.
  3. Copy the password Yandex shows and use it in Stjobno Mail instead of your Yandex ID password.

Outgoing (SMTP)

Yandex ID: app passwords

Mail.ru: a password for external applications

  1. In Mail.ru open the account settings → Security → Passwords for external applications.
  2. Add a password, give it a name and allow full access to the mailbox (IMAP and SMTP).
  3. Copy the password and use it in Stjobno Mail instead of your Mail.ru password.

Outgoing (SMTP)

iCloud Mail: an app-specific password

  1. Two-factor authentication must be on for your Apple Account — it is on for almost every account.
  2. Sign in at account.apple.com → Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords and generate one named "Stjobno Mail".
  3. Use your full iCloud address and that password in Stjobno Mail.

imap.mail.me.com:993 · SSL
Outgoing (SMTP)
smtp.mail.me.com:587 · STARTTLS
Stjobno Mail fills these in by itself when you type the address.
Apple Account

Your own domain: cPanel, Plesk or any hosting

  1. Find the mailbox's settings: cPanel → Email Accounts → Connect Devices, or Plesk → Mail → the address → Mail client settings.
  2. The user name is the full address; the password is the mailbox's own one — hosting mail usually has no app passwords.
  3. Type the address in Stjobno Mail: it looks for the servers itself, and you can always type them in.

Usually: incoming mail.yourdomain, IMAP, port 993, SSL; outgoing the same name, SMTP, port 465, SSL.

Outlook.com and Hotmail: not directly yet

Microsoft no longer lets mail apps sign in to Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live or Microsoft 365 with a password or an app password — only with its own sign-in (OAuth), which Stjobno Mail does not have yet. The way that works today is forwarding:

  1. Connect Gmail (or another mailbox) to Stjobno Mail.
  2. In Outlook on the web open Settings → Mail → Forwarding, turn forwarding on to that address and tick "Keep a copy of forwarded messages".
  3. New Outlook mail then arrives in that mailbox and so in Stjobno Mail. Replies go out from that address, not from the Outlook one.

In a work or school Microsoft 365 account the administrator may forbid forwarding outside the organisation.

Questions and answers

When does Gmailify stop working?

Google ends it in 2026: new connections stopped first, existing ones are switched off in the course of the year. Google's help page "Changes to Gmailify & POP in Gmail" has the current dates.

Will I lose the mail Gmail already collected?

No. What Gmail already fetched stays in your Gmail. Only new mail is no longer collected.

Can I still use Gmail's own app?

Yes. Stjobno Mail reads Gmail over IMAP, so nothing changes there: a message you read or delete here is read or deleted in Gmail too.

Can I connect Outlook.com or Hotmail?

Not directly yet: Microsoft accepts only its own sign-in (OAuth) from mail apps, and Stjobno Mail does not have it. Forward the Outlook mail to a mailbox you connect here.

Do I have to pay?

No. Reading, writing and sorting the mail of all your mailboxes is free, with no limit on the number of mailboxes. Only the optional AI functions are paid.
